Chelsea 3 - Liverpool 2 - Champions League Semi-Final (4-3 on aggregate)
Right this is strange, it seems like im just about to write my stream of consciousness about this match to get $50 of imaginary money...anyways heres goes... Chelsea vs. Man Utd - |Champions League Final| Why? Maybe because Liverpool under-performed, maybe because Chelsea outplayed Liverpool...well in my opinion it was a deserved win for Chelsea, but its up to your own judgement. Avram seemed to get his tactics right on the night, whereas Liverpool's idea of just relying on Torres at every breaking opportunity appeared to backfire after a while. On the other hand Drogba played brilliantly, netted a brace and set Chelsea on their way to the final! This game wasnt without the usual drama, going to extra time, after Drogba scored the opener, and Torres got the vital equaliser during the initial 90 minutes... However as soon as it went into extra time, Chelsea pushed their foot on the gas and controlled the game with a further two goals from Lampard's penalty and Drogba's second effort. The penalty decision followed a massive appeal from Chelsea players after watching Michael Essien's drive from over 20 yards out ruled offside - with 4 Chelsea players offside but not interfering with play directly. When it looked like it was all over, Liverpool had a penalty shout, and Babel's 40 yard strike forced a half-save by Cech who was unable to stop it exploding in the net. This late goal gave Liverpool fans hope but unfortunately they could not convert any of their other late chances and the final whistle blew. Altogether a great performance from Chelsea, an unlucky exit for Liverpool - who perhaps should have performed better, and an exciting prospect of an all English final awaits us.
